AIB data found in the dump!
If the above title seems a bit dramatic, consider this. It is the same dump which is being searched as a consequence of HSE data being found in April. Indeed,it would appear that the AIB issue has “come to light” as a consequence of HSE search.
Officials from or for (as of initial post this is a new and developing story) AIB are sifting through bank documents at the landfill in Co. Cork.
Those documents which are of good enough quality to read are said (at this stage) to be internal AIB documents.
The services of contractors have been obtained to assist with searching the site for relevant documents.
There are also reports of Health Service executive officials being on site at the same time.
In April 2008, medical data pertaining to hundreds of people was found in the area.
Very specific information relevant to Cork hospitals including names, addresses, dobs, treatments and conditions were found.
The area had been sealed of as a consequence of the HSE data and it is said that some AIB documents were found initially during the search for HSE documents.
AIB confirmed their investigation has commenced.
A spokesperson also said that the Financial Regulator and Data Protection Commissioner will be notified.
This will be updated as more news emerges.
