On-line backup for Insurance brokers.
Most insurance companies through budget and economies of scale will have their own online backup system. This makes sense because of their availability of data store locations, I.T. staff and financial resources. Insurance brokers have been between a rock and a hard place for some time due to the absolute necessity to ensure safety of data with a clear lack of resource with regard to the massive initial and ongoing investment required to run their own online backup system. Insurance companies will generally not allow brokers to share their online backup as the number of different companies relevant to the broker would make management very complicated and the net result near unusable for the broker.
On-line backup as a service, with the facility to avail of world class online backup technology while only paying for the portion you use has offered affordable absolute data backup security to all business. Insurance brokers have been among the first to avail of the service. Recent and ongoing Euro zone, local and industry legislation is adding to the impetus to move data backup online.
Some however are yet to make the move. If you are reading this document it is likely you are an insurance broker and either intend moving to on-line backup or moving to a more superior online backup service than the one you have in place. Welcome. Here we will address not just the advantaged to brokers of online backup (they are all over the internet, including this site) but some of the principal concerns brokers have and some of the issues you need to consider (yes there are some) before moving to online backup. In this document we will differentiate for you the distinct and very important differences between Backupanytime and the vast majority of online backup providers. Please note that some of the answers to questions here are applicable to our system. Most online backup systems are very much inferior to the backupanytime online backup system. We do not want you to incorrectly believe all of the features detailed or mentioned here are industry wide
First off, concerns brokers (and business in general have about online backup)
How safe is my brokerage backup data if I use online backup?
Much, much safer than with off-line backup. On-line backup transferred and in transit data is encrypted and can not be read by anyone but you. You have the encryption code.
Can backupanytime read my data?
Absolutely not. Many providers can even thought they would prefer if they could not. Our encryption is client generated and managed. This means that we never have the code, not even when the account is first created. We sign off on this as an absolute given. It is a major distinguishing feature with our service.
Can I get my data backup if my broadband goes down?
Yes. Our system enables local and remote backup so local encrypted and compressed data store is available for fast retrieval with or without broadband.
If my I lose data and the local data store is unavailable due to total system failure and my broadband is down, can I have my data back without waiting for broadband of fixing the computer with backupanytime software?
A far more common environment than you may think. Things happen in threes and backup has to be a disaster recovery capable system. Yes, we offer a “man in van” service to disaster recovery clients without broadband. All you need is your encryption code and any computer such as a new Dell to restore your data to.
Will online backup help with data protection compliance requirements?
Yes. Backup is not a single answer to data protection compliance as data protection compliance relates to what data you keep, how long you keep it, what you do with it and who you make it available to. We can assure you though that from an online backup perspective our system is compliant with the most strict local and worldwide compliance requirements and the programming is based around keeping in check with growing compliance requirements. Some features of our system which vary positively from most of the competition in this area are based around our attitude to data retention periods. Backupanytime has the largest default data retention in the industry at 365 days. This is configurable upwards or downward to any full figure and can vary between backup sets. This is one area which is likely to catch online backup providers and brokers unaware in the future. The possibility of data backup retention periods for particular data types being standardised and varying depending on the relevance of the data may leave some systems failing to comply.
Can I test this service and then decide?
Yes, we offer a fourteen day free no commitment online backup trial. During this period we recommend that you purposely create and make slight modifications to a particular file or set of files on a daily basis without telling us anything about the files. Without warning delete them and contact us requiring assistance to retrieve all versions of all deleted files used throughout the period. Predictably it has never failed but strangely always impresses the client even though we told them in advance what would happen.
Am I committed to this service once I start it?
No, our online backup runs on a monthly rolling contract. If for any reason you decide not to continue with the service you can cancel it. We allow this because we expect you will not do it. It is offered as a demonstration of our belief in experience of total ongoing client satisfaction.
How do Backupanytime backup?
We use multiple remote servers. These servers mirror across each other. They use different broadband providers, have independent power, are managed by professionals and protected by appropriate firewalls and as required updates. This system would not be viable for a small business. We make money by leasing a share to a large number of companies.
Have backupanytime ever lost data?
Absolutely not. Our business is based around data protection and data loss would be catastrophic for us. Our number one function is data protection. As a number function and with available systems, automation, mirroring, duplication and expertise it is not a difficult job. As a number five, six or seven task in a small business it is a dangerous area.
How do backupanytime pricing structures compare with the competition?
We are not the cheapest in the market and do not intend to be any time soon. We offer good value for money. We have a price promise which ensures that new and existing clients will always be offered the same price bands and this will benefit existing clients as online backup is set to fall in price with general storage cost reductions. We do have some reasonable once off fees for licence and installation. Many providers do not charge for licence and installation. Our software is however greatly superior to most and our technicians will give all the time needed to ensure you systems is secure pre restore requirement. In addition you will be appointed and account manager who will be your onside point of contact and will be eager to retain you business and satisfy you to the point of gaining industry references from you.
What plans do we have for the future?
As with any business we intend to grow. We will however scale this and bring in more resource to allow us to retain the personal client relationships and high customer retention we currently enjoy. We will also embrace new technologies and technical partnerships which have proven to be of benefit to our clients.
