Client generated encryption
Most online backup companies issue their clients with an encryption code. This means you have shared your encryption code before you even got it. The client may change it later, often after the first backup. There are a number of risks here. The first is that the code will not be changed for some time if ever and that at any intervening period from day one, your supplier could conceivably read your data. The other worry is that even if the code was changed relatively quickly, there is a time period during which your data was in a position of compromise. Even if you trust your provider implicitly and the relationship is conducive to that level of trust, there are serious ethical questions left unanswered regarding your right to trust any outside party with client data. Our encryption is generated at the client side. While we believe in trust and its importance in business, our system does not require you to trust anyone with your data. No one, not even backupanytime can read backupanytime client data from initial install to disaster recover completion. In addition to us never knowing your code you can change your code (if say a trusted party left your organisation), encryption type and level at any time without reference to us.

Software upgrades as standard
We as a technology company recognise the importance of having the most functional and stable release of software available regardless of the application type. After considerable testing of all software we run a beta programme with beta programme members. Again after beta testing and confirmation of suitability, we offer each release as a single install upgrade to all clients without additional charge. We do this because it is in our interest that all backupanytime clients use the most effective solution available.
