- How to change your online
backup encryption code
- You will not need your encryption code to do manual
and automated backups or restores from a normally
operating system.
- You will need your encryption code if the system
which backs up is stolen or completely destroyed.
Your encryption code was provided on installation.
You should have at least two print outs in separate
locations. You can custom change or regenerate a random
key and print same with or without reference to backupanytime
from a functional backup computer.
- Open the backupanytime software. (start, program
files, backupanytime)
- Choose options, change encryption, type in admin
override password, generate key. To print off the
new encryption code; Create key file, choose location
to save it to, choose print option printing at least
two copies.
- Save these in two safe locations and reprint without
delay if lost.
If you have any queries regarding your key file please
contact support now.
If we could easily crack the
code for you, the system would as a consequence be unsafe.
Cracking encryption codes after a client computer is
stolen or destroyed is a time consuming, expensive position
and is prone to failure because of the strength of the
code.
To date (Aug 07) no client has lost their code and
failed to replace it before a system was stolen or completely
destroyed. By simple mathematics it is bound to happen
one day. Don't let it happen to you.
Thank you
